Some notes:

  • There are different schedules depending on the time of year you like to travel. Please make sure you are looking at the right saisons schedule!
  • Ferries on the main routes from Vancouver to Vancouver Island fill up rapidly during the morning and evening hours, when weekend start or end and in holiday season. We recommend you to arrive early if you want/ need to catch a ferry at a certain hour or to make a reservation beforehand.
  • There is a art and crafts market in Ganges on Salt Spring Island every Saturday morning that attracts a lot of visitors. To catch one of the morning ferries from Swartz Bay or Crofton to Salt Spring you should come early or prepare for a longer wait. In Crofton there's actually a sign up the road indicating that cars waiting beyond this sign will not make the ferry and will have to wait for the next.
  • If a crossing time for one of the smaller ferries is marked with the letters DC, please note that this means that there is dangerous cargo on board on this crossing. The smaller ferries will not carry any cars or passengers on crossings marked with DC!
